Medellín: Too Many Matches, Too Few Meetups (But the Cowork Spaces Slap)

I came to Medellín for work, sun, and maybe a little chaos. I got two out of three.

First thing I noticed? Dating apps in Medellín are broken—or maybe too effective. I opened Tinder and thought I was in a beauty pageant. The matches came in nonstop. Felt like my ego got a B12 shot. But try to meet in person? Crickets. These apps should come with a warning: “For entertainment purposes only.”

Anyway, no problem. I didn’t come to Colombia to waste time swiping. I came to get sh*t done—and Medellín’s actually perfect for that.

The coworking spaces here? Solid. Real desks, fast internet, good coffee, AC that works. I set up in Poblado, obviously. It’s where every digital nomad ends up pretending they’re writing a book. But hey—it’s comfortable, and everything’s close. Cowork by day, empanadas and micheladas by night.

Productivity? Through the roof. No distractions, no excuses. I got more done in two weeks here than I usually do in a month. Maybe it’s the mountain air. Or maybe I just had fewer “hey, let’s hang” messages to answer.

The city itself is a vibe. Clean, safe (yes, really), great food, and locals who actually want to talk to you. I took the cable car up into the hills just to get perspective—on the view, and on life. Not bad for a Tuesday.

Nights out? Good mix. Some rooftop bars, some salsa spots. Not trying to go full tourist trap, but I dipped my toe in. And yes, I danced. Badly. But I showed up.

Would I go back? Definitely.
Would I plan fewer dates and more meetings? For sure.
Would I finally meet someone from the app? Doubt it—but hey, at least the co-work space had free coffee.
